How we make money

OOSClub may earn a commission when you buy through links on this site. It never changes our rankings or research. Sponsored placements are always labeled.

Sponsored and featured placements

A few spots on the site are placements: a box on the home page, one after the results on a hub, and one below the buy box on a product page. Our team chooses what goes in them and when it runs; nobody can buy one through the site.

Anything paid is labeled Sponsored, and we record which placements are paid. One labeled Featured is a listing our team chose to highlight, and it is never paid: our database refuses a paid placement labeled Featured. Either way it sits in its own labeled box, and a listing that also appears in the results keeps its place there: placements never move, add or remove ranked results.

What decides the order

Lists on OOSClub are ordered by what we know about each listing, never by what it earns us. The default order puts listings that match what you searched for first, then open listings before paused or closed ones, then listings whose facts our team has verified, then those with more documented facts such as supported stores and features. You can also sort by price or by when a listing was last updated.

  • Whether a link is an affiliate link, and how much commission it pays, is never part of the order.
  • Sponsorship is never part of the order either. Sponsored listings appear only in their labeled boxes.
  • Editor's picks on a hub are our team's choice, are never paid, and sit apart from the ranked results.
  • Numbered lists in guides follow the same order, after any ranking our editors give in the article; each list says so. Commissions and sponsorship never affect them.
  • The facts on a listing page, and our guides, are the same whether or not a seller pays us.

Verified and unverified facts

Prices, offers, supported stores, features and links each record where they came from and when our team last checked them against that source.

  • Checked N days ago (for example, “Checked 12 days ago”) is how long ago our team last confirmed a listing's core facts, a company or an offer against its source. On a hub, the count line gives the oldest check among its listings, and only when every one of them has been checked; otherwise it says how many are verified (“5 verified”), or “not yet verified” when none is.
  • Unverified means nobody on our team has confirmed that fact yet, for example because it came from an older source. Treat it as a lead and check the seller's site before you rely on it.
  • When we don't know a fact, we leave it out rather than guess.

Offers end on their own: a deal disappears from the site when its end date passes. A deal nobody on our team has checked for 45 days (or, if it was never checked, 45 days after we added it) also drops off the deals page, the home page and deal badges until someone checks it again. A listing's own page still shows its offer, with how long ago it was checked.

How an article was made

Every guide and news article carries one of these labels, taken from how it was produced:

Researched from public information
We wrote it from public information: the seller's own pages, documentation, announcements and similar sources. Nobody on our team used the product for it.
Tested by OOSClub
Someone on our team used the product first-hand for the piece.
Sponsored
A company paid for the piece to be written or published. It carries this label everywhere it appears, and it never changes rankings.
