Overview
Privacy.com issues virtual card numbers that keep a shopper's real bank account or card details away from merchants. Cards can lock to the first merchant that charges them, close after one purchase or, on paid plans, lock to a spending category; each can carry a spend limit and be paused or closed. It runs on the web, in browser extensions and on iOS and Android. The Personal plan is free; Plus, Pro and Premium allow more new cards a month, card sharing and API access. As of October 2026, Privacy's pricing page lists a 3% foreign transaction fee ($0.50 minimum) on Personal and Plus. It's for US citizens and legal residents aged 18+ with a US checking account.
“Privacy Cards automatically “lock” to the first merchant they’re used at and can never be used anywhere else if they’re stolen or compromised in a data breach.”
